SAP Shifts Focus to Smaller Firms - New Software Line

“The market is ripe for a proven market leader to step in for an affordable, scalable business solution that poses no risk.”
The key worlds here are: “proven market leader”, affordable, scalable business solutions” and “that pose no risk”. It is great that large vendors are now in effect walking the talk and gearing to give the SMB sector what they need and what they could afford in terms of a business solution.
During my 12+ years experience in the ERP sector (largely in the SMB space) I have seen very many situations where the end user customer identifies the right solution - but find that there business is just not ready to afford such an investment from a cash-flow perspective. Yes (as ERP professionals) we do our best to point out the true business benefits of the solution (and the ROI) of the investment. All this said, at the end of the day -business priorities do take (and have to) precedence and a lesser appropriate application is chosen.
